Tapco Tools’ New M2X Brake Accessory Allows for 50% Faster Bending
May 21st, 2019Boral’s Tapco Tools, the industry leader in premium professional-grade contractor brakes, now offers the M2X gauge, an easy-to-use measuring tool that eliminates the need for a tape measure and pencil when bending trim pieces. M2X, named for its ability to Measure 2X as fast, includes on onboard measuring tape and two easy-to-attach, moveable brackets with corresponding measurement markings. Where once users had to measure, mark the bends (often front and back), and then move the trim to those marked positions, now they can simply place the material on the brake and move it to the scale on the M2X gauge accessory.
The result is as much as 50% faster bending—and the associated cost savings—along with increased accuracy and reduced waste. Pieces come out of the brake clean and ready to install, with no pencil marks or snip-cut marks on the finished product.
“Trim material is flimsy and often hard to handle before it’s bent, so maneuvering it while making precise measurements with a tape measure can sometimes be difficult to manage,” says Trisha Wagner, Brand Manager at Boral Building Products. “The M2X gauge is simple to use, and contractors will start saving time and money the first time they try it.”
Designed to be highly visible even at a distance, M2X features 1/4” and 1/2” increments in orange and 1/8” and 1/16” increments in black, while alternating white and gray blocks delineate 1” increments. The inside edge on each bracket is beveled, further increasing readability. The M2X kit comes with a centering tape that runs the length of the brake, making it simple to locate the corresponding brackets at the correct distance depending on the length of the piece being bent.
Sturdy and durable, M2X brackets won’t fall off from strong use or when weight is applied; if walked into, the brackets release, protecting both the tool and user from harm.
M2X installs onto the brake in about 15 minutes.
